Giampaolo Babetto Gold Necklace
SOLD
Circa 1990s, 18k, by Giampaolo Babetto, Italy. Architect turned sculptor, turned goldsmith, Giampaolo Babetto's jewelry is visually compelling. Combining minimalist forms with idiosyncratic detail, this necklace is a visual narrative of abstract movement, textured surfaces and cubist homage. An unusually colorful work, the bright blue is a secret process involving roughly crushed lapis lazuli, the key component in the historically purest blue pigments. This blue touchstone ties the artistic history of Italian painters to the cubist modernity of this brilliant sculpture to go. From the sidewalk to the catwalk, this necklace is signature style.  Excellent condition.
Remarks from Lawrence Jeffrey: “Art becomes fashion, chic compels style, spray paint decorates the museum walls.”
